Empowering Workplace Integrated Learning Across the South West

I liked going to the workshop and seeing the testing of a belt feeder because it allowed us to see what the engineers design and model and see it in real life. The whole week was enjoyable, and I loved learning about the different elements to engineering. Everyone was really nice, and I didn’t feel like I was doing something different to everyone else. I felt like part of the team.

My highlight was working with the return rollers because I could do most, if not all of the work that went into it.  I was suprised at the amount of work I was allowed to do. It also taught me how much goes into being able to work there (tickets and being VOC’d).

I learnt how to use these platforms better and more ways of making parts in them. It was a good place to work at and good environment I’ll be coming back for more work experience.

My highlight was seeing cranes operating, I have always wanted to see them in action. Everyone at RCR helped me learn new things and encouraged me to do it to my best.

I was asked to help build a spile bar trolley and that required me to grind and weld.  I also got the opportunity to read diagrams and drawings.
