Shire of Dardanup StudentConnect Tour
Last week’s StudentConnect tour at the Shire of Dardanup was another valuable opportunity to create meaningful connections between local high schools in the South West and local government.
Educators from several local high schools heard firsthand from the Shire’s Project Officer, Planning Officer, Eaton Recreation Centre Manager, Accounts team and Works Supervisor, who shared their unique pathways into local government. It was fantastic to learn about the wide range of careers available across the Shire and the different entry points for young people.
The tour also created a great two‑way conversation. Schools were able to share what they’re seeing in classrooms and workplace learning programs, helping the Shire understand how students are engaging with local career opportunities.
Following the informative presentation and morning tea, we finished with a guided tour of the Shire’s award‑winning facilities, including the impressive Mick Bennett Make It Space (click here for more information)
